NIHR Participates in the Fourth Meeting to Approve the Guideline on Human Rights Education in the Arab Region
Within the framework of joint cooperation with the United Nations Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, and the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated—represented by Dr. Maha Saleh Al-Shehab, Child Rights Commissioner—in a coordination meeting held remotely. The meeting was dedicated to discussing and developing the guideline on best practices and experiences in the field of human rights education in the Arab region, with the participation of a number of relevant entities from Arab countries.
The meeting included a discussion of the latest draft of the report and the guideline, with the aim of reviewing it by the participating entities and providing final comments thereon. It was also agreed to adopt the final version of the guideline, in preparation for its issuance, in a manner that contributes to strengthening the integration of human rights principles into curricula and educational environments across Arab countries.
This meeting comes as a continuation of the National Institution for Human Rights’ participation in the joint efforts aimed at developing this guideline. NIHR had previously taken part in an in-person workshop held in the Lebanese Republic (Beirut) to discuss the guideline’s key themes, in addition to its participation in three remote meetings convened during the various stages of preparation and development.
